  • The emerging field of geoengineering focuses on the problem of sequestering CO2 that’s already out there in the atmosphere. One possible solution is the creation of something called “biochar,” which proponents claim can not only capture carbon, but improve soil quality and fertility as well. Tyler Irving speaks with University of Toronto researchers Nathan Basiliko and Sandy Smith about their work in this area.

A recent study finds women are more knowledgeable and more concerned about climate change than men. Women are also more likely to underestimate what they know. Chris Hannay speaks with the author of the study, Aaron McCright, a professor of environmental sociology at Michigan State University.

  • John Bennett, Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada helps explain the new federal Oil Sands advisory panel. Sierra Club Canada hailed the announcement of the new panel and the members chosen to sit on it as a good sign that the federal government is finally taking credence to some the independent claims that there have been widespread environmental and health impacts from tar sands development. Mr. Bennett explains Sierra Club’s position on the announcement of the panel and on the future of the Tar Sands.
