What?
The Green Majority is an environmental feature originating from CIUT in Toronto, Canada. As the nation’s first and only all-environmental newshour, we strive to inform listeners about the environmental events that affect them, with emphasis on municipal, provincial and national issues, and to connect listeners to their environmental communities.

When, Where?
The program airs every Friday at 10am. We broadcast on the FM band at 89.5KHz across Southern Ontario from Coburg to Kitchener, Barrie to Buffalo; we also broadcast live nationwide on channel 826 of the Star Choice satellite network and channel 946 of the Rogers digital channel platform. We podcast from this website, so you can listen to the latest episode of the show as a free MP3 download any time you like, from anywhere in the world.

Why?
Polls indicate a “green majority” of citizens care about environmental issues and wish to lead an environmentally friendly lifestyle; indeed, recent polls indicate the environment is now the #1 concern among Canadians. Still, until TGM, Canada has lacked a dedicated national news program to report the stories that are shaping our environment. Our mandate is as follows:

1) Raise awareness about environmental topics in Toronto and across Canada in an unbiased fashion;
2) Connect individuals to environmental organizations and organizations to one another;
3) Engage and stimulate the environmental movement.

How?
TGM is produced by student volunteers at CIUT, the University of Toronto community radio station. Funding for the program is provided entirely by listener support. As such, we are free to operate ad-free and without the biases that may prevail within advertising-funded mainstream media.
