Sounds Sustainable aims to be the voice of an overdue movement towards a more sustainable future. To that end, we are working to connect good people and to propogate good discussion on what the sustainable future of our planet should look like.
After some server migration this will be the new home for the Sounds Sustainable podcast. All past show links will be updated shortly and a link to the new show feed will be posted here and in the weblog as soon as it is “live”**A quick history of the Sounds Sustainable podcast… or why there hasn;t been any shows lately. Since I started with the idea of producing a sustainably themed pocast I have learned a great deal about what it takes to produce a quality show. Surely the most important lesson learned is the amount of time it takes to produce each episode. Research, harvesting and bookmarking all relavant links, recording and editing takes some time. More if the show involves field/phone recordings that require additional editing. As a result time (or lack thereof) has been the single most influential factor in the prodction of the Sounds Sustainable podcast.
Now that I am getting settled into the 1) New Town (actually I returned to Owen Sound, ON, the town I was raised in) 2) the new house (more on the efforts to make the house as sustainable as possible to come) 3) the new job (actually I don’t really have a “job” per se. I am freelancing/consulting on web design/web strategy/ new media production while building some niche content sites on the side (besustainable currently fits into this category until I can find a sustainable way to do it full time, which would be pretty ideal in my mind).
So where does that leave the show? It’s still kickin in my mind and as routine settles back into my life I am going to pencil it regularly into my available time.
In the meantime check out the first 4 shows (These I will dub the Sounds Sustainable beta series. Take note of the audio quality from show 1 to 4, there were some lessons learned about audio production for the web for sure. If you have any thoughts or ideas, you know someone I should interview, you are someone I should interview or just want to talk sustainable then drop me a line. If you are joining us from another part of the world we’re sorry you won’t be able to take part in these events in person but they should serve nonetheless as examples of good green actions that you may wish to adopt for your community
