I ave been following what the Home Depot has been up to with their “eco-options” strategy for some time and I like where they are going. You can check out the eco-options homepage to see more of what they are up to.
Likely the best part of the eco-options program is the amount of effort it devotes to education. Follow the “learn more” tabs from the eco-options page to see how you can minimize your impact and perhaps benefit your pocketbook at the same time.
While I am certain there is no way we can simply “buy” our way out of most problems that our society has created I am a fan of market based initiatives that promote 1) change in the right direction and 2) education of the greater public in a space where the issues might make sense to them.
