Hi I’m Ryan
I started besustainable and the Sounds Sustainable podcast because I was interested in how the web (especially increasingly popular blogs and podcasting) could be used to help spread the idea of sustainability and reduced impact living. The whole process started a couple of years ago ( I was a pretty savvy user of the web but didn’t know much about how it worked) and since that time I have been working out how to leverage this new technology to promote green ideas.
“Working out: might be a bit of an understatement actually, I have become fairly immersed in the whole “new media” space. So much so that I retired from a 6 year stint teaching geography/resource management at a Toronto High School to start my own web strategy/new media empire*

Or you could listen my recent audio submission to the Green Majority (yeah, after getting all caught up in new media I found my way into a more traditional outlet as well) for a little more of the story.
*Alright so empire is a bit of a stretch since I am currently neck deep in business planning but when all is done the business will live online here.
**this thing is just getting started and is no where near the craziness I have in mind. If you are looking for something geeky and green to do in your spare time I could likely use some help (winkwink, nudge nudge)
