This interview was conducted at the Eco-Wedding & Lifestyle Show in Toronto. Glenn McKnight had the opportunity to speak with Jordan from the Lifford Wine Agency about their new carbon-positive wine.
plantatree™ wine was conceived in a rather untraditional way. The concept was born on a drive home from Michael Stadtlander’s culinary mecca Eigensinn Farm in a Toyota Prius. Steven Campbell, Lifford Wine Agency Owner, and Jed Goldberg, Earth Day Canada President, were returning from Stadtlander’s farm after having an in-depth discussion about Global Warming and the need to provide consumers with products that will reduce their ecological footprint.
Convinced that when given a choice, consumers will choose sustainable goods, Campbell decided he needed to do something. After many nights of contemplation in his garden, plantatree™ wine was born.

The Durham E-bike Association is “a recently formed association of electric bicycle (e-bike) enthusiasts in the Durham Region and we are looking to promote e-bike awareness in Durham region, share information and experience about riding e-bikes, and to have some fun while doing it!”
Earlier this week the Sounds Sustainable podcast caught up with Jason Carter of the Durham E-bike association at the Oshawa Energy Conservation Fair.
What is an e-bike?
The Short Answer…
In Ontario, an E-bike is a bicycle-like vehicle powered by an electric motor that, if it meets certain legal specifications, can be driven on Ontario roads as a bicycle, that is:
the operator of an e-bike must follow the rules of the road, but is not required to have a driver’s license or to carry insurance, and
the e-bike is not required to be licensed (or plated.)
Under this arrangement, riders of e-bikes are able to take advantage of a powered form of transportation that has both a low operating cost and a low environmental impact.
Jason Dasti speaks with Glenn McKnight of the Energy Conservation Society of Ontario. This is the first in a series of interviews Jason recorded at the Oshawa Energy Conservation Fair.
